Woman Jailed for Scamming Concert-Goers with Fake Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran Tickets

Zeta Darwisyah Jefry sentenced for duping victims out of over $2,700 in fake ticket scam.

Zeta Darwisyah Jefry, 23, was sentenced to seven months in prison on November 22 after pleading guilty to two counts of cheating and one count of criminal breach of trust. Between December 2023 and March 2024, Zeta scammed six people out of more than $2,700 by offering fake concert tickets for popular artists, including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

Zeta’s scam began when a 27-year-old woman, seeking concert tickets on a Telegram group, was contacted by Zeta, who falsely claimed to work for ticketing company Ticketmaster. The woman transferred $736 to Zeta’s Revolut account for two tickets that were never delivered. After the victim discovered no such employee or account existed at Ticketmaster, Zeta gave excuses and failed to refund her.

Another victim, a 19-year-old man, was duped into buying Taylor Swift tickets via a Telegram group chat. Zeta convinced him she was a legitimate seller by providing a redacted Ticketmaster e-ticket and an ID picture. However, after the victim transferred $700 to Zeta’s account, she stopped communicating and failed to deliver the tickets.

In a separate 2022 incident, Zeta also misappropriated over $16,000 from a stranger who had deposited money into her account for safekeeping. She spent the money on personal expenses and later blocked the individual, continuing her dishonest actions.

The court took into consideration five additional cheating charges and one under the Computer Misuse Act during sentencing. Zeta’s lawyer pleaded for a reduced sentence, citing difficulties in finding employment after a previous conviction for reformative training in 2019.
