Woman Arrested for Drink Driving, Passenger Hospitalized After Bencoolen Accident

Accident Involving White BMW Occurs in Early Hours, Police Investigations Ongoing

On October 20, 2024, a 28-year-old woman was arrested for drink driving after her car crashed outside Bencoolen MRT station in Singapore. The accident occurred at 4:20 AM along Bencoolen Street, prompting a swift response from the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

A 24-year-old female passenger was conscious when taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The driver was also arrested for careless driving causing hurt. A photo posted on Facebook showed the white BMW with its front wheels mounted onto the kerb in front of a building.

This incident comes amid a rise in drink-driving accidents, with figures from the Traffic Police showing an increase in the number of such accidents in the first half of 2024. Police investigations are ongoing.
