Shandong Restaurant and Beijing Roast Duck House face closures and fines following repeated lapses.
Boat Quay establishments Shandong Restaurant and Beijing Roast Duck House have been ordered to suspend operations for two weeks, from Nov 19 to Dec 2, due to hygiene violations and failing to register their employees.
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) disclosed on Nov 19 that both eateries accumulated 12 demerit points within a 12-month period. Six points were issued for not maintaining a pest-free environment and another six for failing to register an assistant. Each eatery was also fined $800.
According to SFA guidelines, establishments accruing 12 or more demerit points within a year may face either a two-week or four-week suspension or, in severe cases, licence cancellation.
Staff from the suspended eateries will be required to re-attend and pass a food safety course before being allowed to return to work. These measures aim to reinforce compliance with hygiene standards and safeguard public health.
