Toddler Rescued from HDB Ledge: Police Investigate Negligence

A viral video shows the dramatic rescue of a three-year-old boy in Singapore.

A 25-year-old woman is under investigation for negligence after a three-year-old boy was seen standing on the third-storey ledge of an HDB block on Canberra Road in Singapore on October 20.

The Incident
The boy, dressed in pyjamas, was captured on video standing outside a flat’s window, staring blankly ahead. The footage, widely shared on social media, shows onlookers on the ground holding a blanket to catch him if he fell.

A man carefully approached the child on the ledge, steadied himself against the wall, and safely lifted the toddler back into the flat through an open window.

Witness Accounts
Residents reportedly knocked on the flat’s door, but no one answered. The man who rescued the boy later discovered an adult was present inside the flat during the incident.

Authorities’ Response
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were alerted around 11:50 a.m. The toddler was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

The police confirmed that the 25-year-old woman is assisting with investigations into a case of negligence.

Public Praise
The SCDF plans to commend the public-spirited individuals who assisted during the emergency.

This incident highlights the importance of child safety in high-rise buildings and the vigilance of community members in preventing potential tragedies.
