Motorist stunned as six teenagers take his car for a joyride in Sengkang, leaving behind damaged interior and disturbing items.
In a bizarre incident in Singapore, a motorist’s car was stolen and taken for a joyride by six teenagers, leaving behind an array of items and significant damage. On the night of October 29, 2024, Mr. Wong Wei Loong discovered his car missing from a multi-storey carpark in Sengkang West Road, after attempting to retrieve a camera from the vehicle. A search led to a police report, but the car was soon spotted being driven back into the same carpark, with the teenagers behind the wheel.
The police apprehended the six teens, aged between 13 and 16, and arrested them for theft. One of the male suspects, aged 16, was also investigated for possession of an offensive weapon. Upon retrieving the vehicle, Mr. Wong noticed that the car had been damaged, with a loose bumper, external scratches, a broken glove box latch, and other interior damages. Items left behind included a knuckle duster, an e-vaporiser, a portable charger, and a receipt showing a petrol top-up transaction at 2:12 AM, suggesting the car had been taken earlier that night.
Despite the damage, Mr. Wong was relieved that no valuable items were stolen from the car. He expressed mixed emotions about the incident but ultimately vowed not to leave his car unlocked again. The case is still under investigation, with authorities also addressing the vaping-related offense through the Health Sciences Authority.
