The growing Halloween trend sees a surge in events and costume sales in Singapore
Halloween celebrations in Singapore are seeing a significant uptick in popularity, with event organizers and retailers reporting higher sales and attendance numbers. As younger Singaporeans embrace Western pop culture, Halloween has become a widely anticipated event in the city.
Journeys, known for its heritage tours, is organizing the Haw-Ror Villa 2 event at Haw Par Villa, with pre-event ticket sales 130% higher than the previous year. Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights event has also seen a post-pandemic resurgence in visitors and merchandise sales, with the addition of new horror attractions inspired by The Weeknd and the Netflix series All Of Us Are Dead.
In the heartland, malls and neighborhoods are hosting their own Halloween festivities. Anchorpoint mall’s Pumpkin Treat event attracted over 2,000 visitors, while local communities in Opera Estate and Yishun are preparing for large-scale events with thousands expected to attend.
Costume stores are seeing increased business, with sales up 15% from last year. Popular costumes this year include characters from Netflix’s Wednesday and the Conjuring universe, as well as Top Gun fighter pilots. With Halloween evolving into a community event for families and friends, Singaporeans are embracing the fun with dressing up, trick-or-treating, and carving pumpkins.
