Southeast Asian Siblings Overcome Pandemic Hurdles to Build Luxury Indonesian Yacht

Against the Odds: Siblings Pursue Their Dream of Crafting a Premium Yacht in Indonesia

As the Covid-19 pandemic engulfed the world in 2020, forcing cities like New York into lockdowns and crippling international travel, many were faced with difficult decisions and disrupted plans. For Jasmine Tabalujan Chong, a fashion designer originally from Malaysia, the pandemic’s travel restrictions meant her long-awaited return to her family in Malaysia was no longer possible.

Jasmine, who had relocated to Melbourne, Australia, for boarding school at the age of 15, found herself unable to reunite with her family. Yet, alongside her sibling and their Indonesian business partners, Jasmine seized this challenging time as an opportunity to pursue a new dream—building a luxury yacht in Indonesia.

Despite the travel barriers, their entrepreneurial spirit remained unwavering. The siblings, alongside their partners, ventured into a unique and ambitious project that combines traditional Southeast Asian craftsmanship with contemporary luxury, creating a masterpiece that reflects their passion and resilience. This endeavour stands as a testament to the power of determination even in the face of a global crisis.
