Singer Ingrid Andress Entering Rehab After Flubbing National Anthem Performance

Country Artist Apologizes for Drunken Performance at MLB’s Home Run Derby

Country singer Ingrid Andress publicly admitted to being intoxicated during her performance of the US national anthem at the Major League Baseball (MLB) Home Run Derby on July 15 in Arlington, Texas. The 32-year-old artist, who is a four-time Grammy nominee, expressed regret on social media, announcing that she would be entering a rehab facility to seek help.

“I’m not gonna [expletive] y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” Andress wrote on July 16. She also apologized for her performance, saying it did not reflect who she truly was. “That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

Her performance was widely criticized, with many drawing parallels to Roseanne Barr’s infamous 1990 rendition of the national anthem at a San Diego Padres game. Despite the backlash, MLB has not yet commented on Andress’ words or her performance.

Ingrid Andress’ decision to seek professional help comes after a public acknowledgment of her struggles and an effort to address her personal challenges
