Singaporean Woman Under Investigation for Suspected Terrorism-Related Activities

Authorities investigate a woman for alleged ties to terrorism amidst rising concerns.

The Internal Security Department (ISD) of Singapore confirmed on November 22 that a local woman is under investigation for alleged involvement in suspected terrorism-related activities. The case emerged after messages about her were circulated on a Telegram channel with over 200,000 subscribers, which provides updates on the ongoing Gaza conflict.

The messages initially claimed that the woman had been arrested and had her electronic devices seized, but later updates suggested she was released. ISD stated it could not provide further details, as investigations are still ongoing.

This follows other recent incidents in Singapore, including the arrest of a 17-year-old in August for planning an attack on non-Muslims, and the 2017 detention of the first woman under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for radicalization by ISIS online propaganda.
