Singapore Supports Humanitarian Aid, Calls for Protection of Civilian Lives in Gaza: Ambassador to UN

Ambassador to the UN stresses Singapore’s commitment to international law and humanitarian aid in Gaza

ingapore has expressed its full support for the United Nations’ efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and emphasized the need for the protection of innocent civilian lives. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Singapore’s Ambassador to the UN, Burhan Gafoor, voiced support for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ leadership in facilitating the aid flow and underscored the importance of international law.

The ambassador also condemned the terrorist attack by Hamas, which escalated the ongoing conflict, and called for the immediate release of all hostages. He stated that Israel has the right to defend itself but must also adhere to international humanitarian law. Singapore voted in favor of a resolution calling for a humanitarian truce, despite concerns over omissions regarding Hamas’ role in the violence and Israel’s right to self-defense.

Singapore’s position remains consistent in advocating for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urges all parties to respect international law to ensure long-term peace and security.
