Singapore and Malaysia Sign MOU to Combat Transnational Crimes

New partnership aims to enhance cooperation in tackling drug trafficking, terrorism, cybercrime, and scams.

On November 14, 2024, Singapore and Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen their collaboration in preventing and addressing transnational crimes. The MOU was signed by Singapore’s Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam and Malaysia’s Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, during Mr. Saifuddin’s official visit to Singapore.

This partnership reinforces the long-standing relationship between Singapore’s Home Team departments and Malaysia’s law enforcement agencies, focusing on areas like information sharing, joint training, capacity building, and mutual assistance on security matters.

The agreement aims to tackle a wide range of transnational crimes, including drug trafficking, terrorism, cybercrime, and cyber-enabled scams. As part of the MOU, a joint working committee will be set up to oversee the development of policies, activities, and programs to advance cooperation between the two countries.
