New partnership introduces more flights and joint fare products for travellers to Bali, Jakarta, and Surabaya starting 2025
Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Garuda Indonesia have announced a new partnership that will provide travellers with greater connectivity between Singapore and three key Indonesian destinations—Bali, Jakarta, and Surabaya—beginning in the first quarter of 2025. The airlines will introduce joint fare products, allowing passengers to book flights on a single itinerary across both carriers.
Expanded Flight Options and Increased Frequencies
As part of the collaboration, SIA will increase its daily flights to Jakarta from six to eight starting November 22, 2024. Garuda Indonesia will also boost its daily services on the same route from four to six flights starting December 1, 2024. These additional flights are part of a broader expansion that includes 390 weekly codeshare services, 362 of which will connect Singapore with Indonesia.
Codesharing, an arrangement where airlines sell seats on each other’s flights, will allow both airlines to offer more flexibility to passengers while streamlining travel options between the two countries. The new codeshare services will add 56 new weekly services to the existing 334.
Frequent Flyer Benefits and Economic Impact
In addition to expanding flight options, the airlines will enhance their frequent flyer programs by allowing members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare routes. This will provide added benefits to loyal customers and foster deeper commercial cooperation between SIA and Garuda Indonesia.
The airlines are aiming to strengthen the tourism and business links between Singapore and Indonesia. SIA’s CEO, Goh Choon Phong, emphasized the role of this partnership in improving travel connectivity and supporting economic growth in both countries. Similarly, Garuda Indonesia’s CEO, Irfan Setiaputra, noted the significant increase in traffic between Singapore and Indonesia and the airline’s efforts to meet the growing demand.
