Sengkang BTO Project Wins HDB Awards for Outstanding Design and Construction

Rivervale Shores receives recognition for its innovative design, integration with nature, and safety features.

Rivervale Shores, a Build-To-Order (BTO) project in Sengkang, was awarded two prestigious HDB Design, Construction, and Engineering Awards on October 22, 2024. These awards were presented in recognition of the architectural and engineering excellence in public housing projects. Completed in August 2023, Rivervale Shores is the largest BTO project to date, comprising 2,500 units across 16 blocks.

The project’s design draws inspiration from the nearby Sungei Serangoon river and its rich biodiversity. Features like playgrounds based on local bird species and five thematic gardens reflecting the river’s ecosystem enhance the living experience, integrating nature with urban spaces. The estate’s common areas are fully pedestrianised, built on an elevated environmental deck, which connects all the residential blocks and includes an underground carpark with direct access to the lift lobbies, ensuring convenience and safety for residents.

Farah Charles, a future resident, praised the estate’s design, highlighting the peace of mind it offers for her young daughter, who will have a safe place to play away from roads. She also noted the added convenience of the underground carpark for easier moving. This innovative design earned recognition for its focus on both safety and integration with nature.

The award ceremony, held at Resorts World Sentosa, was attended by Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, who also recognized project teams from three other BTO sites that overcame delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
