RSAF C-130 Deployed to the Philippines for Humanitarian Aid Following Tropical Storm Trami

The Singapore Armed Forces assist in delivering vital aid to storm-affected communities in the Philippines.

On October 26, 2024, a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) C-130 transport aircraft was deployed to the Philippines to support humanitarian efforts following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Trami. The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) confirmed that the aircraft was sent at the request of the Philippine government, aimed at delivering essential supplies to communities severely impacted by the storm.

The storm, which struck the Philippines, caused widespread flooding and left 87 dead, with many more displaced. The heavy rainfall, which accumulated over just two days, was equivalent to two months of rainfall in some areas. The RSAF’s mission highlights the ongoing close bilateral and defense relations between Singapore and the Philippines, particularly in the realm of disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.

Tropical Storm Trami exited the Philippines on October 25, but the situation remains uncertain, as there are indications that it may potentially turn back toward the country by October 27, depending on the development of another tropical storm that could enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.
