Police Arrest 15 in Joo Chiat Operation Targeting Errant Entertainment Outlets

Authorities uncover multiple offences during a comprehensive enforcement effort.

SINGAPORE – Fifteen individuals aged between 19 and 63 were arrested on November 8 during an enforcement operation against public entertainment outlets in Joo Chiat, the police announced on November 13.

Offences Identified
The 12 men and three women face charges for various offences, including:

Working without valid work permits.
Suspected drink driving.
Driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Possession and consumption of controlled drugs.
Possession of scheduled weapons.
Additionally, 11 men aged between 29 and 62 are under investigation for violations such as:

Possession of e-vaporisers.
Breaches of the Fire Safety Act.
Non-compliance with food hygiene regulations.
Joint Agency Effort
The operation, spearheaded by the Bedok Police Division, was supported by the Traffic Police, K-9 Unit, and several government agencies, including:

Central Narcotics Bureau.
Health Sciences Authority.
Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Singapore Food Agency.
During the raid, authorities seized suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, and scheduled weapons. Two entertainment outlets are also under investigation for violating public entertainment licensing conditions.

Law Enforcement in Joo Chiat
Despite improvements in the area’s law and order situation, Joo Chiat remains a notable location for public entertainment establishments. The police affirmed their commitment to routine enforcement to maintain safety and deter unlawful activities.

The operation highlights the coordinated effort between multiple agencies to ensure compliance with Singapore’s laws and regulations.
