OCBC Sponsors Solar-Powered Fleet to Promote Sustainability at Gardens by the Bay

OCBC’s $1 million sponsorship aims to support the green initiative with solar-powered cruisers at the iconic Singapore attraction.

OCBC Bank is furthering its commitment to environmental sustainability with a $1 million sponsorship to fund 15 solar-powered electric cruisers at Gardens by the Bay. The solar-powered fleet, capable of generating nearly 70% of its operational energy from solar panels, was launched on October 23, 2024, during the Gardens’ Race to Sustainability! event.

Details of the Initiative:
Sustainability Focus: The 60 solar panels installed on the cruisers will provide substantial clean energy, supporting the attraction’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions while offering visitors a greener transportation option.
OCBC’s Contribution: Helen Wong, Group CEO of OCBC, emphasized that this sponsorship aligns with the bank’s climate action goals, contributing to a low-carbon future.
Event and Engagement: The launch took place during the Race to Sustainability! event, which engaged nearly 5,000 students from 21 schools in Singapore. The event focused on environmental awareness, climate change, and sustainability through challenges designed to educate and inspire the younger generation.
