Firefly garden, snow shows, and bar-hopping passport among exciting additions to Orchard Road’s 2024 Christmas festivities.
Orchard Road is set to be even more dazzling this Christmas season with new attractions added to the annual Christmas light-up, “Christmas on A Great Street,” organized by the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA).
From Nov 9 to Jan 1, visitors can look forward to a magical “firefly garden” with vertical beams of light mimicking the motion of fireflies. This new addition will celebrate the connection and inspiration that the holiday season brings, alongside a design reflecting the area’s history with the inclusion of evergreen pine. Other attractions include nightly snow shows, augmented reality projections, and festive musical displays.
The 2024 light-up also brings back the popular Great Christmas Eve Street Party, extending from Ion Orchard to Ngee Ann City with live performances, food trucks, and a countdown to Christmas. This highly anticipated event attracted 130,000 attendees in 2023, and ORBA anticipates even greater numbers this year.
Additionally, a bar-hopping “passport” for signature cocktails and two Christmas villages at Ngee Ann City and Shaw House Urban Plaza will be set up, featuring carnival rides, a towering 14-meter-tall Christmas tree, and immersive snowfall shows. These new initiatives, along with the return of festive rides and local craft beer, promise to bring a lively atmosphere to Orchard Road’s nightlife.
ORBA continues its community-focused initiatives by donating decorations to local charity Equal and supporting tree planting efforts in Orchard Road. The light-up will also bring joy to underprivileged seniors and migrant workers through special bus tours and celebrations at the Great Christmas Village.
With these additions, this year’s event is expected to draw four to five million visitors, reaffirming Orchard Road as a central hub for festive celebrations in Singapore.
