Intermittent connectivity issues caused inconvenience for users of Nets QR and eNets services.
SINGAPORE – Nets QR and eNets services experienced a brief outage during lunch hour on Friday, leaving many users unable to complete transactions. The disruption began around 11:30 am and was resolved by 12:42 pm, according to a Nets spokesperson.
Service Disruption Details
At 12:25 pm, Nets announced on Facebook that its QR and eNets services were facing “intermittent connectivity issues.”
DBS also informed customers at 12:45 pm that Nets-related services, including QR Scan & Pay, were unavailable.
Both Nets and DBS later confirmed that services were restored by 1:30 pm and 1:20 pm, respectively.
Impact on Users
Social media was flooded with complaints from users inconvenienced during lunch hour, particularly those unable to make transactions via Nets QR or eNets. DBS reassured customers that alternative payment methods, such as credit and debit cards or PayNow, remained operational.
At the peak of the outage, Downdetector recorded 157 reports of problems with DBS banking services, though a DBS spokesperson clarified that its systems were functioning normally. The issue stemmed solely from Nets-related services.
Resolution and Updates
By early afternoon, both Nets and DBS issued updates confirming that all affected services had returned to normal.
This incident underscores the reliance on digital payment systems in Singapore and the potential disruptions caused by even short outages during peak hours.
