Turning Pain into Passion: The Journey of a Singaporean Skincare Advocate
Jing Rui, a Singaporean woman who has faced severe eczema throughout her life, now runs a skincare clinic in the UK, helping others who struggle with similar conditions. Her personal journey from battling eczema to becoming a skincare advocate is an inspiring story of turning pain into passion.
Jing Rui’s battle with eczema began in childhood, leading to painful flare-ups, hospitalizations, and a struggle to maintain a normal life. As a young girl, she was self-conscious about her skin, which led to isolation and difficulty in social and professional settings. She even decided to stop using steroids as a child, which led to the development of Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), a painful condition that made her skin even more vulnerable.
Despite these challenges, Jing Rui found solace in exploring alternative treatments. A turning point came when she discovered cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) therapy, which helped her skin regenerate and heal. After this breakthrough, she embraced her skin’s healing journey, learning to love herself and accept the scars as a part of her story.
In 2021, Jing Rui moved to the UK and, together with Louise King, co-founded Skin Solace Aesthetic Clinic in Winchester. The clinic specializes in treating TSW, acne, and other skin conditions, with a focus on holistic, non-invasive treatments like CAP. The clinic has flourished, attracting clients from across the UK and helping them heal from years of skin struggles.
Jing Rui’s story highlights her resilience, turning years of pain into a mission to help others. Through her clinic and online advocacy, she raises awareness about TSW, encouraging others to seek alternatives to overusing steroids. Her journey not only underscores the importance of self-love but also reflects the power of community support in overcoming chronic conditions.
