SINGAPORE — A 49-year-old man, Joel Ezekiel, has been arrested after posting a video on social media showing himself wielding a samurai sword in public. Following the online report on October 28, police raided his home and found additional weapons and drug paraphernalia.

According to court documents, the raid took place at 7:30 PM in York Hill, located near Outram Park. Ezekiel was charged with possessing a knuckle duster and is also under investigation for drug-related offenses by the Central Narcotics Bureau.

The police received the initial report after the man uploaded the disturbing video, and within two hours, they had identified him and conducted the raid. During the search, authorities seized several prohibited weapons, including a samurai sword, a butterfly knife, a flick knife, and knuckle dusters, all classified as scheduled weapons under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.

Ezekiel’s actions have been condemned by the authorities, who emphasized their zero-tolerance policy toward individuals flaunting illegal weapons in public. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and possible caning.

The man has been granted bail of $15,000, and his case is set to be heard in the near future.
