A violent altercation at Punggol Park led to multiple injuries and a police arrest.
Singapore – A 40-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning for public nuisance after allegedly assaulting a park cleaner and five parkgoers at Punggol Park. The altercation reportedly began when the man followed a 70s-aged cleaner to a public toilet and confronted him for interrupting his work.
According to a park worker, a fight broke out after the cleaner reprimanded the man. During the incident, five other individuals, including an 86-year-old man and four women, attempted to intervene, but the man reportedly assaulted them, throwing punches in all directions.
A passer-by who helped subdue the assailant stated: “I did not touch him but went near to tell him to stop. He lost his balance, and we pinned him to the ground until the police arrived.”
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were called at around 8:00 AM. Among the victims, a 71-year-old man was taken to the hospital, conscious, while a 48-year-old man and two women, aged 41 and 58, sustained minor injuries.
