Kamala Harris Launches $60 Million Ad Blitz in US Presidential Race

Harris intensifies campaign efforts as polls show narrowing gap with Donald Trump

WASHINGTON – On July 30, 2024, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris launched a $60 million ad campaign aimed at boosting her momentum in the race against Republican rival Donald Trump. This marks her first significant ad investment since consolidating the Democratic nomination following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race and endorsement of Harris on July 21.

Expanding Reach and Mobilizing Voters
The ad blitz, titled “Fearless,” is set to air across television, streaming platforms, and social media channels, targeting key battleground states ahead of the Democratic National Convention beginning August 19. The campaign aims to energize Democratic voters, especially young voters, a group that Biden had struggled to attract.

Polls from the past week show Harris, 59, narrowing the gap with 78-year-old Trump, who still leads in some national surveys.

Ad Content and Focus
The first ad in Harris’ campaign highlights her personal and professional journey, showcasing her rise from a young girl to a prosecutor, attorney-general, and ultimately US vice-president. The ad emphasizes her fearless approach: “The one thing Kamala Harris has always been: fearless.”

In addition to showcasing her personal story, Harris’ campaign has focused on Trump’s criminal charges, including felony convictions related to the hush-money trial, as well as his role in promoting anti-abortion measures in Republican-led states.

Competitive Spending
Harris’ $60 million ad buy significantly outpaces Trump’s $10 million ad campaign announced just the day before. Trump’s ads are set to run in six battleground states, where his campaign aims to counter Harris’ rising voter enthusiasm and growing donations.

This intensifying ad war reflects the mounting stakes as the presidential election approaches, with both candidates vying to secure critical support in the final months before the election.
