Engage your children in educational and creative activities this school holiday season.
Science Workshops
Get your kids involved in hands-on learning with exciting science workshops at the House of Hows education centre. They can build an incubator and hatch quail eggs while exploring scientific concepts such as heat, electricity, and the life cycle. Other workshops include dissecting and studying the anatomy of goat or pig eyeballs to understand vision, as well as a food science class where children can learn about density by making bubble tea pearls.
Additionally, a baking workshop will allow kids to make glowing cupcakes with a secret ingredient, showcasing chemical reactions in the process. The centre’s founder, Ms. Laura Oh, emphasizes the importance of broadening children’s learning experiences and making education interactive and fun.
These workshops cater to students from primary to secondary levels, and parents are encouraged to join in the fun. Classes run from Nov 29 to Dec 16, with fees ranging from $85 to $129. Sign up for all four workshops to receive a 10% discount.
Art Exhibition by Primary 4 Pupils
Head over to the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) at Tanjong Pagar Distripark to view the “Worlds Around You” exhibition, showcasing 19 artworks by Primary 4 students. The exhibition is part of SAM’s Think! Contemporary programme, designed to encourage learning through art.
The students, from six local schools, have explored themes around their environments, culture, and experiences. Highlights include a watercolour series called Makan Together! by Mayflower Primary School pupils, capturing the vibrancy of Singapore’s hawker culture. Meanwhile, a ceramics installation titled Small Dreams In Tight Spaces by CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace pupils draws inspiration from Olafur Eliasson’s The Cubic Structural Evolution Project.
The exhibition runs until December and is a wonderful way for children to engage with and appreciate contemporary art.
