The 2025 Chingay Parade, one of the first events marking Singapore’s 60th birthday, will showcase the nation’s diverse culinary heritage through food-themed displays and performances.
A Feast for the Senses at Chingay 2025
Singapore’s iconic Chingay Parade, held on February 7 and 8, 2025, at the F1 Pit Building, will bring food to the forefront with a vibrant celebration of local culinary delights. Themed “joy,” the parade will feature food-inspired floats, food-themed costumes, and PAssionArts installations that reflect Singapore’s rich culinary heritage.
Over 4,000 performers from 150 organisations will participate in this multicultural extravaganza, offering a 360-degree parade layout and a four-level stage for an immersive experience. The event is set to highlight the collective spirit of Singapore’s diverse communities and artistic talents.
Chingay 2025 Nominated for UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List
Singapore and Malaysia are jointly nominating Chingay for inclusion on UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list. This nomination will commemorate the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries, with the final decision expected by 2026. The parade has long been a symbol of multiculturalism and national identity, and this new recognition aims to increase awareness and involvement in the event.
Engaging the Next Generation
In an effort to connect with younger audiences, the People’s Association (PA) will introduce educational toolkits for schools and universities to teach about Chingay’s evolution and cultural significance. Public participation will also be encouraged through a digital pledge, interactive exhibits, and social media engagement using the hashtag #ChingaySG.
For Chingay Parade 2025, PAssionCard members can receive a 60% discount on tickets until December 3.
Freelance artist Tejas V. Hirah, a two-time performer, highlighted the parade’s role in fostering intercultural and intergenerational connections, describing it as a platform for people from all walks of life to come together and bond over shared experiences, such as enjoying bento boxes.
