Five motorists, aged between 25 and 66, are facing charges for causing injuries due to reckless driving in separate incidents.
Singapore – Five motorists were charged with driving without due care or reasonable consideration, leading to grievous hurt to other road users. The incidents occurred on different dates, with the charges laid on November 13, 2024.
One of the drivers, Low Boon Cheong, 41, was accused of failing to keep a proper lookout while making a right turn in Loyang on June 10, 2024, at around 3:30 am. His car collided with a 28-year-old Malaysian motorcyclist, who had the right of way, resulting in serious injuries to the rider.
In another case, Mohamed Nassir Haron, 66, was charged after he allegedly failed to drive carefully on the Bukit Panjang Road slip road on January 14, 10:30 pm. He struck a cyclist using the zebra crossing, causing injuries. Nassir, who had a history of speeding offenses, could face a harsher penalty if convicted.
The third case involves Syafeeq Hammadi Sharin Shaifuddin, 25, who allegedly struck a 47-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman on February 16 around 8:30 pm in Zion Road. Syafeeq is accused of failing to exercise proper care while making a right turn, resulting in injuries to the pedestrians.
These charges highlight the importance of maintaining road safety and being considerate of others while driving.
