Five Highlights to Look Out for at the New Science Centre

SINGAPORE – Set to open by 2027, marking the Science Centre’s 50th anniversary, the new Science Centre in the Jurong Lake District will feature a larger and more dynamic space, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and local firm Architects 61. Here are five key attractions visitors can look forward to:

1. A Larger Kids’ Gallery
The new KidsSTOP will more than double in size, offering an interactive waterplay area, sensory trails, and specialized labs to encourage hands-on learning for children. The space will provide a fun, engaging way for kids to explore science.

2. Fire Tornado Show
The popular fire tornado show will return with an enhanced setup, housed in a specially designed chamber in the Outdoor Amphitheatre, offering a closer look at the spectacular phenomenon.

3. Scenic Views and Stargazing
Visitors can enjoy scenic views of Jurong Lake from expansive windows and rooftop gardens. Additionally, an Observatory will allow guests to enjoy stargazing and learn about the wonders of the night sky with a telescope.

4. Focus on Real-World Issues
The new Science Centre will focus on global challenges like sustainability, food security, and climate change. Exhibitions will showcase local innovations and emerging technologies like generative AI, with workshops encouraging dialogue and education on these vital topics.

5. A Test Bed for New Experiences
The centre will feature specialized labs, such as the Eco-Lab, where students can conduct experiments in a garden setting. Visitors will also have access to maker spaces, enabling them to experiment with new tools and technology, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
