AMKFSC Community Services Rebrands as Allkin Singapore

The social service agency changes its name to reflect its expanded scope of work

AMKFSC Community Services has rebranded as Allkin Singapore to better represent the breadth of its services. The agency, which started in 1978 as the Ang Mo Kio Social Service Centre, now operates over 40 locations across the central and north-east regions, including Bishan, Sengkang, and Yishun. It offers a wide range of services, from family counseling and marriage support to mental health services and transitional shelters for the homeless.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who is the charity’s patron, launched the new name during its 45th anniversary dinner. The rebrand reflects the agency’s broadening scope, which now includes services for at-risk youth, frail seniors, former offenders, and individuals with mental health challenges.

The change of name was motivated by confusion surrounding its previous identity. According to Dr. Vincent Ng, the CEO of Allkin, the former name, AMKFSC Community Services, did not adequately convey the full spectrum of services provided, particularly given its expansion beyond Ang Mo Kio. The new name, “Allkin,” blends the words “all” and “kin,” signifying inclusivity, human connections, and support for those in need.

In addition to its work in family service centers (FSCs), Allkin has helped approximately 20,000 people in 2022. The charity is committed to embracing kinship beyond traditional notions, fostering relationships built on a shared purpose of providing aid.

At the event, PM Lee also highlighted Allkin’s ongoing contributions to strengthening Singapore’s social fabric. He announced the opening of a new center in Ang Mo Kio, which will promote grassroots initiatives for families in need. Dr. S. Vasoo, a long-time advisor to the agency, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the social service sector.
