Frequent thunderstorms and elevated lightning activity forecast in early November.
SINGAPORE – Don’t forget your umbrella as afternoon thundery showers are expected on most days during the first half of November, with occasional evening rain, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS).
Transition to Inter-Monsoon Season
The shift from the south-west monsoon to inter-monsoon conditions is underway. This period brings:
Light and variable winds
Heavy thunderstorms
Increased lightning activity, which is more common during inter-monsoon months.
November is historically one of Singapore’s wettest months, making this weather pattern typical for the season.
Temperature and Rainfall Expectations
Daily highs: Temperatures are forecast to range between 33°C and 35°C.
Rainfall: Below-average precipitation is expected for the first two weeks of the month, despite frequent showers.
October Highlights: Heat and Rain
Record temperatures: Admiralty recorded a historic 36.3°C on October 9, the highest October temperature ever documented in Singapore, surpassing previous records set in 2001 and 2019.
Rainfall peaks: On October 23, Jurong West experienced the month’s highest daily rainfall at 88.4mm.
Haze Conditions Improve
Late October rains brought relief to the haze episode that affected Singapore earlier in the month.
As Singapore enters this dynamic weather phase, ensure you’re prepared for sudden downpours and take caution during periods of increased lightning activity.
