Oscar Winner Cate Blanchett, Bands OneRepublic and Bastille Coming to Singapore for Earthshot Prize

Singapore to host the prestigious Earthshot Prize ceremony with star-studded performances and environmental milestones

Singapore will host the Earthshot Prize award ceremony on November 7, 2024, featuring a star-studded lineup including Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, actresses Lana Condor, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Hannah Waddingham, along with musical performances by American band OneRepublic and British indie-pop group Bastille.

The Earthshot Prize, established by Prince William in 2020, will award five winners a total of £1 million (S$1.66 million) to support their environmental solutions. The ceremony, which marks the first time Singapore is hosting the event, will be televised on Channel 5, mewatch, and Mediacorp’s YouTube channel.

Blanchett, who is also an Earthshot Prize council member, will announce the winners alongside other notable figures, including Australian wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and South African actress Mbatha. The event will highlight global efforts in environmental conservation, with the finalists working on projects such as tree planting in Liberia and innovative solutions to treat industrial wastewater.

The Earthshot Prize’s 15 finalists will also receive mentorship and resources through the Fellowship Programme, helping accelerate their initiatives. Singapore’s own Voices of Singapore choir will perform at the ceremony, adding a local touch to the international event.

Prince William will also attend the United for Wildlife Global Summit during his four-day visit, focused on combating illegal wildlife trade.
