Changi Airport Terminal 2 Fully Reopens with Stunning New Features

The revamped terminal showcases a multimedia waterfall display, lush gardens, and cutting-edge digital technologies.

A Grand Reopening for Changi Airport’s Terminal 2
On November 6, 2024, Changi Airport Terminal 2 (T2) officially reopened, unveiling exciting new features after a 3.5-year renovation. The terminal now boasts innovative multimedia elements like the Wonderfall, a 14-meter-high digital waterfall located in the departure hall, which is designed to enhance the passenger experience. This awe-inspiring feature, set against a vertical garden, is accompanied by a four-minute musical show every 30 minutes, composed by Jean-Michel Blais.

Dreamscape Garden and Digital Sky
In the transit area, Dreamscape, a new garden experience, brings nature and technology together. Featuring over 20,000 plants from 100 species, the garden integrates a digital sky ceiling that simulates real-time weather conditions outside the terminal. The space also includes a fish pond where travelers can walk over on a transparent platform, creating a serene atmosphere.

Expanded Capacity and Enhanced Services
The expansion has increased T2’s capacity from 23 million to 28 million passengers annually, contributing to the airport’s overall capacity of 90 million passengers. The terminal now features enhanced retail spaces, automated check-in kiosks, and a baggage-handling system that tracks bags in real-time. Passengers will also find automated special assistance lanes for families with young children and persons with disabilities at immigration.

Focus on Sustainability and Innovation
Changi Airport has integrated sustainability and innovation into its design. The terminal’s automation systems help streamline passenger flow, and the introduction of robot bartenders and self-check-in services enhances user experience. The airport is also working toward decarbonizing aviation in the region.

A Welcoming Future
As T2 now serves airlines connecting 40 cities globally, the terminal’s new features, including the Funko pop-up store and Lotte Duty-Free’s innovative shopping experiences, have been well received by visitors. With Changi Airport regaining its crown as the world’s best airport, it continues to push the boundaries of passenger services and comfort.
