T2’s upgrades feature the mesmerizing ‘Wonderfall’ digital display and the immersive Dreamscape garden.
SINGAPORE – Changi Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2) has fully reopened ahead of schedule, offering travellers a blend of stunning digital art and nature with two remarkable new features: the Wonderfall multimedia waterfall display and the Dreamscape garden.
The Wonderfall, the centerpiece of the departure hall, is an awe-inspiring digital waterfall standing at 14 meters tall and 17 meters wide. The large screen, consisting of 892 tiles, showcases a waterfall cascading over boulders, accompanied by a four-minute musical show every half hour. Composed by Jean-Michel Blais, a Canadian pianist, this show combines natural beauty with technology in a striking display.
Located in the departure transit area, Dreamscape is a garden that seamlessly merges digital content, plants, and fish. Visitors can enjoy the soothing atmosphere created by over 20,000 plants from 100 species, some of which are rarely found in Singapore. The garden features a digital sky ceiling that reflects real-time weather conditions, further enhancing the immersive experience. The garden also boasts a fish pond with a transparent platform, allowing travellers to walk above the water, surrounded by the sounds of nature.
T2’s renovation, which began in May 2020, now offers expanded space, increasing the terminal’s passenger capacity from 23 million to 28 million per year, bringing Changi’s total capacity to 90 million. The terminal’s design integrates nature, from green columns to hanging plants, creating a serene environment for passengers. Additionally, new retail options, including a Funko pop-up and a Lotte Duty-Free Wines and Spirits store featuring a robot bartender, have been introduced.
The terminal also features automated check-in kiosks and special assistance lanes for passengers with disabilities or young children. With its full reopening, T2 now serves 16 airlines, offering connections to 40 cities.
At the opening ceremony, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean emphasized the importance of innovation and sustainability in Changi Airport’s future, especially with the ongoing development of Terminal 5, which will add an additional 50 million passengers to the airport’s capacity by the mid-2030s.
Passengers have praised the combination of nature and technology at T2, with many describing it as a mesmerizing experience that elevates the travel journey.
