Eleana Lim Chui Xia accused of performing Botox injections without a valid certificate.
SINGAPORE – Eleana Lim Chui Xia, a 33-year-old woman, has been charged with three counts of illegally practicing as a medical practitioner by administering Botox injections without a valid practising certificate. The charges stem from her actions between 2020 and 2021 when she allegedly injected a mixture of Botox and saline solution into three women.
On December 11, 2020, she allegedly injected the mixture into the jaw of a 36-year-old woman at a unit located at 73 Upper Paya Lebar Road. She reportedly repeated the offence on May 18, 2021, administering the same injection to the calves of a 31-year-old woman. On July 30, 2021, Lim is accused of injecting the mixture into the underarms of a 26-year-old woman.
The Medical Registration Act forbids individuals from acting as medical practitioners without being registered and having the necessary certification. If convicted, Lim could face a fine of up to $100,000, a jail term of up to 12 months, or both. Repeat offenders may face a fine of up to $200,000 and a prison sentence of up to two years.
This case underscores the importance of regulated medical practices, particularly when it comes to procedures like Botox injections, which can have serious health implications if not performed by qualified professionals.
