The PAP and WP are preparing for the 2025 election by introducing potential new candidates and ramping up political activities.
SINGAPORE – As Singapore’s general election draws closer, political parties are ramping up their efforts, unveiling new faces and making strategic moves to gain traction ahead of the polls, which must take place by November 2025.
The People’s Action Party (PAP) recently introduced Jackson Lam and Marcus Loh as new faces, both of whom will take over as branch chairmen in Hougang and Sengkang East respectively. Lam, a 38-year-old assistant director at the National Trades Union Congress, and Loh, a 40-year-old volunteer from Marine Parade GRC, have both expressed their commitment to serving residents and making a positive impact on the community. Lam’s focus is on supporting seniors and underprivileged youth, while Loh is dedicated to improving lives through digital transformation and skill-building.
Meanwhile, the Workers’ Party (WP) is also preparing for the next general election, with smaller political parties collaborating in hopes of strengthening their influence. The political scene in Singapore is buzzing, with discussions around potential leadership changes, particularly the possibility of Lawrence Wong succeeding Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
In the wake of recent controversies within the political space, including an affair involving former Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin, parties are emphasizing political renewal and gearing up for a highly anticipated election cycle.
