Prime waterfront property next to Jeff Bezos’ properties listed for record price
A mystery seller is asking for a staggering US$271.4 million for a vacant waterfront lot in Miami’s exclusive Indian Creek Island, located next door to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ recently acquired properties. The 0.74-hectare plot, situated at 9 Indian Creek Island Road, was initially purchased for just US$27.5 million in 2018 by a Delaware-based company, SMM Sunny Holding. Despite the dramatic price increase, the seller is reportedly open to negotiations.
The lot, which boasts 61 meters of water frontage along Biscayne Bay, is being marketed by real estate broker Ilya Reznik, who hints that the ultimate buyer will likely be another billionaire. “I’ve already had a couple of showings, and obviously, the buyer is going to be a billionaire,” Reznik said. If sold, the land would likely set a record for the region, particularly due to its proximity to Bezos’ extensive holdings in the area.
Bezos, who has been buying up property in Indian Creek since 2023, has already purchased three estates in the vicinity, including two properties adjacent to the lot currently up for sale. The Amazon founder is expected to demolish the two homes to make way for custom-built estates. His investments have raised property values in the area, with Reznik suggesting that potential buyers will pay a premium due to the presence of the billionaire entrepreneur as a neighbour.
The property’s prime location in the ultra-exclusive Indian Creek, often referred to as “Billionaire Bunker,” has attracted the world’s wealthiest individuals. The island, which can only be accessed by a heavily guarded bridge, features its own police force, an 18-hole golf course, and around 40 properties. Other notable residents include Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Tom Brady, and investor Carl Icahn.
If the property sells for anywhere near its asking price, it will further highlight the growing trend of soaring real estate prices in South Florida’s luxury market, particularly in the Indian Creek enclave, known for attracting the ultra-wealthy.
