Associates of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky have been in discussions about a potential phone call between the two leaders, sources revealed on July 19, 2024. While the call was initially speculated to take place that day, Reuters was unable to immediately confirm if the conversation had been scheduled.
CNN had earlier reported that the phone call was planned, marking the first interaction between the two since Trump left office in 2021.
Trump, who is in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, has expressed his intent to end the war in Ukraine before even taking office if he wins the upcoming election. However, he has not provided specific details on how he plans to achieve this.
A representative from the Trump campaign declined to comment on the potential call.
