Cyclist Under Investigation for Pedestrian Crossing Incident

Allegations of public nuisance arise after a heated dispute in Sengkang

Singapore police are investigating a 46-year-old male cyclist for allegedly causing public nuisance and unnecessarily occupying a pedestrian crossing in Sengkang on October 10.

Incident Details
The incident occurred at the junction of Anchorvale Crescent and Anchorvale Street around 6:30 PM. Private-hire driver Kelvin Neo reported that, after allowing two pedestrians to cross, he resumed driving when the cyclist suddenly appeared. Though Mr. Neo stopped to let the cyclist pass, the individual reportedly became upset, claiming the vehicle had not slowed down earlier.

Dashcam footage shows the cyclist confronting Mr. Neo, parking his bicycle in the middle of the crossing, and threatening to call the police. Despite efforts by a passer-by and a bus driver to defuse the situation, the cyclist refused to move, disrupting traffic.

Impact on Commuters
The incident caused a 17-minute delay for an SBS Transit bus, as passengers were forced to alight while waiting for the road to clear. The police arrived to resolve the issue, allowing traffic to resume.

Ongoing Investigations
Authorities are examining the cyclist’s actions under charges of public nuisance and unnecessary obstruction at the crossing. Further updates on the case are pending.
