Tsuburaya Productions strengthens its regional presence with a new trading card game.
The Ultraman franchise, beloved for decades, has expanded its reach in Southeast Asia with the launch of a new trading card game in Singapore. Tsuburaya Productions, the company behind the iconic superhero, has opened an office in the city, solidifying its connection with the region’s growing fanbase.
New Game and Growing Popularity
On October 25, 2024, Tsuburaya Fields Entertainment International, based in Suntec City, launched the Ultraman trading card game, marking a significant step in the franchise’s evolution. The game, which draws from over 60 years of Ultraman history, includes a mix of heroes and villains, enabling players to create custom storylines and relive epic battles through strategic gameplay.
Starter decks are available for $10 each, while booster packs are priced at $5, giving fans a chance to expand their collections and further immerse themselves in the Ultraman universe. The cards come in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, and both traditional and simplified Chinese, with English being the primary language for tournaments in Singapore.
Tsuburaya’s Singapore Office
Rudy Ng, Vice President of Tsuburaya Fields Entertainment International, shared his personal connection to Ultraman, recalling how the series was a cherished part of his childhood. Now leading Tsuburaya’s regional operations, Ng emphasized the timeless appeal of Ultraman, which continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
Singapore’s strategic location as a hub for business and creativity made it the ideal base for Tsuburaya to expand its operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Expanding the Ultraman Legacy
The Ultraman card game has already gained traction, with over 500 starter decks ordered by fans in Singapore. The launch event at TableCon Quest in June 2024 saw over 7,000 visitors and more than 200 live demonstrations. With plans for additional booster packs, including the upcoming “Guardians of the Earth” set on November 8, Tsuburaya aims to continue growing the Ultraman franchise both locally and globally.
The game has successfully captured the essence of the Ultraman series, allowing fans to collect, trade, and battle using iconic characters from the rich history of the franchise.
