A9, the Food Shop, faces a two-week suspension and a $1,000 fine for hygiene and registration violations.
A9, the Food Shop, a Geylang eatery known for its noodles and dumplings, has been suspended from November 5 to November 18 for failing to maintain cleanliness and neglecting to register an employee. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced that the establishment had accumulated 14 demerit points due to these violations.
The eatery, also referred to as A9 Noodle Dumpling, was fined $1,000 for two offenses: unclean premises and the failure to register an assistant. Under SFA regulations, establishments with 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period may face a suspension, which can last from two to four weeks, or even a licence cancellation.
In order to resume operations after the suspension, A9’s food handlers and food hygiene officer must be re-certified for food safety.
