Smoof Acai Sorbet Pure Recalled in Singapore Due to Undeclared Milk Allergen

Consumers with milk allergies at risk due to undeclared allergen in sorbet product.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced on Nov 19, 2024, that Smoof Acai Sorbet Pure, imported from Brazil, has been recalled after it was discovered to contain milk, an allergen not listed on its packaging. The product, with a best-before date of July 17, 2025, was found to pose a potential risk to consumers with milk allergies, despite sorbets typically being dairy-free.

While milk is generally safe for most individuals, it can trigger allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to it. As per Singapore’s food safety regulations, any allergens or ingredients that could cause hypersensitivity must be clearly indicated on food packaging to protect consumers.

The recall is currently ongoing, and the SFA has directed the importer, Smoof, to remove the affected product from the market to prevent potential allergic reactions.
