Unexploded WWII Bomb Removed from Area off Lornie Road

The bomb, found by a staff member, posed no immediate danger to the public.

On November 21, 2024, a suspected World War II bomb was discovered near Lornie Road, Singapore. The bomb was located at 239 Sime Road, the address of Keppel Club, by a staff member who was cutting grass near a car park. The discovery prompted immediate action from local authorities.

The police were alerted to the situation at around 9:15 AM, and soon after, the Singapore Armed Forces’ bomb disposal unit took over the operation. The area was cordoned off, and traffic was redirected by security teams from neighboring Singapore Island Country Club, as well as the authorities. Despite the serious nature of the find, police confirmed that no danger was posed to the public.

By 5 PM on the same day, the bomb was safely removed and taken for disposal. Keppel Club issued a statement reassuring members that the situation had been handled without incident. The bomb had been buried under mud and vegetation at the edge of the car park, and its presence had gone unnoticed until the staff member found it while working.
