The Prime Ministers of Singapore and Mauritius aim to strengthen bilateral relations.
On November 21, 2024, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong extended his congratulations to Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Mauritius, following his remarkable victory in the country’s general elections.
In his letter to Dr. Ramgoolam, PM Wong highlighted the long-standing and strong relationship between Singapore and Mauritius, emphasizing the areas of cooperation, which include water management, education, and digitalisation. He also underscored both nations’ shared values in supporting multilateralism, international law, and a rules-based international order. Dr. Ramgoolam, 77, led his opposition coalition, the Alliance du Changement, to a sweeping victory in the November 10 elections, securing 60 of the 62 national assembly seats. Following the landslide win, he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Mauritius for the third time on November 13, a decade after his previous term in office.
PM Wong expressed his eagerness to work closely with Dr. Ramgoolam to further strengthen the ties between their two nations.
