196 Organisations and Individuals Recognized for Contributions at ComChest Awards

The Community Chest awards celebrate long-standing supporters making a difference through donations, volunteering, and inclusive hiring.

Acknowledging Those Who Give Back to the Community
At the Community Chest (ComChest) Awards ceremony, 196 organizations and individuals were honored for their continued commitment to philanthropy. These efforts have supported over 200 critical social services, benefiting 93,000 individuals in need.

The awards highlighted the tireless contributions made by long-time donors, including Madam Lim Kim Lan, who began donating a portion of her salary to ComChest in 1984. Despite her modest contributions, Madam Lim firmly believes in the power of small, regular donations to create a significant impact. “When many people give even a small amount, it can add up to something great,” she said, sharing how she has set a positive example for her children by showing them the importance of giving back.

1. SP Group’s Contributions
The Pinnacle Award, the highest accolade, was presented to SP Group for its outstanding efforts. Since its partnership with ComChest in 2005, SP Group has raised funds through the Heartware Fund, benefiting vulnerable communities in Singapore. The company also provides internship and employment opportunities for individuals with special needs through its Growing Autistic Talent for Engineering Sector program. SP Group’s dedication to inclusivity is evident in its ongoing work to create diverse and welcoming workplaces for persons with disabilities.

2. Sun Life Singapore’s Commitment
Sun Life Singapore received recognition as a Pioneer Partner of Change for its Change for Charity initiative. Through this program, Sun Life donates a percentage of premiums from its SunBrilliance Indexed Universal Life insurance plan, helping fund ComChest’s various initiatives. Michael Wei, Chief Partnership and Marketing Officer of Sun Life Singapore, expressed the company’s commitment to giving back to the community, alongside its business development efforts.

3. ComChest’s Holistic Approach
In his address, Chew Sutat, Chairman of ComChest, emphasized the importance of sustainable philanthropy and how regular, holistic contributions—whether through donations, volunteering, or providing resources—are essential for addressing the increasing complexity of social service needs. With these practices, ComChest is well-equipped to meet current and future challenges.

This year’s awards also underscore how both individuals and corporates play vital roles in sustaining and expanding the reach of the social service sector. Their contributions help maintain crucial services for children with special needs, youth at risk, adults with disabilities, and seniors requiring assistance.
