150 Parcel Lockers to Be Installed in New Estates Like Bidadari, Sengkang in Next 3 Years

New parcel lockers will improve convenience for residents and ease last-mile delivery challenges.

Singapore residents in new housing estates like Alkaff Oasis in Bidadari Park, Fernvale Glades in Sengkang West, and Tampines GreenCourt in Tampines North can look forward to the installation of 150 parcel lockers over the next three years. These lockers, provided by Pick Network, will allow residents to conveniently collect and return parcels at any time, without needing to reschedule missed deliveries.

Pick Network, owned by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, already operates 1,010 lockers across Singapore, with more than 20,000 parcels being processed daily in 2024. The lockers are part of a broader effort to streamline last-mile delivery systems, especially as e-commerce continues to rise.

National Development Minister Desmond Lee, who launched an exhibition showcasing last-mile delivery solutions at the URA Centre on November 15, noted the significance of improving these processes for the convenience of residents. One solution highlighted was the courier hub scheme, which allows courier companies to use spaces in HDB multi-storey carparks for parcel sorting and dispatching.

Furthermore, robots by QuikBot Technologies were displayed at the exhibition. These autonomous robots are already operational in office buildings, and by early 2025, they will begin trials in areas like Marina Bay and Fusionopolis to enhance the final-mile delivery process.

The exhibition, which is open to the public until January 25, 2025, also demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving delivery services in Singapore, addressing challenges faced by delivery workers, and making last-mile logistics more efficient and safer.
